What temperature should a sauna be?

This is a question we often get, and of course, there is no right or wrong answer. Some say 70, others say 80, and some say 90 or 100 degrees Celsius.
What Nordic Sauna Stories advocates is finding a temperature that you enjoy, depending on your mood or the social context you're in. We know that too high a temperature can be dangerous, and it's not reasonable to sit in such heat.

It's important when you're in the sauna with others to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the temperature, and sometimes that might mean sitting on the lower or upper levels. There's a certain prestige among some to sit on the top level for as long as possible, but that's not something we think is worth emphasizing.

After meeting more than a thousand people in our guided experiences, we feel confident in our understanding of when people appreciate our warmth the most. We adapt to the different groups and individuals we meet, but usually, our temperatures range between 70-80 degrees, depending on the group's composition and experience.

We think the most important thing is to add a lot of water/steam / Löyly. Because that's what makes it wonderful!
